In many issues – not least those involving conversations about a net zero and nature-positive future – one of the most vital discussions revolves around the perspectives of youth. At the recent Impact X Summit, themed ‘Climate & Nature 2030,’ held in Sydney, young leaders shared their thoughts on the climate crisis, biodiversity, and the energy transition, reminding us of the importance of integrating fresh ideas and moral clarity into the dialogue. One thing is certain – their insights are essential to shaping a future not just for survival, but for thriving.

Youth Voice and Climate Justice

Linh Do, Chair of the Climate Action Network Australia, kickstarted the conversation for the panel, highlighting the role of youth in driving significant, lasting change. “Over 50% of the world’s population is under the age of 50,” Do noted, driving home the point that young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow but in fact, central to decision-making today. “Young people matter,” she declared, “not because they will inherit the future, but because they are living the reality of crises now.”
